So I got a letter from :iconmoruto: today. Her concern was about this site www.polyvore.com/cgi/search.th…
Basically, there are tons of pictures from dA which are posted without any permission.
Yes, when you click on the picture you can see the artist's name and where it's from so that kinda makes it a credit I guess? but I don't like the fact that they are posted without any permission. To me it's still an art theft and it's rather annoying to see my works (and other artists works) there.
So if you find your works or recognize some of the other artists works, then please notify the them and try to report the theft.

I believe this issue has been corrected and they took down all of those images from DA, But I am not certain. I just took a quick check and it appears that area has been taken down.

yep. Theft for sure. We post to DA because we know the audience and we know the rules of use etc as specified by DA.

This other site is unknown to us. If they attach our name to our work, all they are doing is telling the world that we allowed the image to be posted there. If we had no idea the image was there then this can't be true.

Think.. If a magazine posted our pictures and gave us credit, it implies we endorse the magazine. We can't endorse a magazine if we didn't even know our pictures had been taken.

Your right, they may say the artist's name, but without asking the artist's permission first it's still theft, because they have't asked for the permission to post it.

I'll try ad help contact the artist's on there, because i believe they have a right to know thier work has been posted somewhere else without thier own permission.

I also noticed...if you click on the images, underneath at the bottom many people have made lots of different versions/manips using the image, also without the artist's permission.

But if they're crediting isn't that ok? they aren't saying it's THEIRS or anything.and it links to the original picture which gives the artist deserved attention.
and their trend is taking all the super popular images.

I just took a look. Fill out on the copyright infringement form that it is violating copyrights. Unless you register with them and then use it as a advertising use for your art. But there are definitely issues with what they are doing.
