CommentsBeautiful. May I inquire if you used yourself as a model? And if so then who takes your pictures? And onto the actual picture. Such emotion...I like this very much.

i think the title suits very well to the way she poses. the makeup on the eyes and the nailpolish also work really well together in this photo. the nude lips make this shot real. just like i said before, this shot has so much more than the eyes can see. to me this shot is the best of
cause of this shot i'm a fan <3
This image is a beautiful and sensitive portrayal of femininity and self-doubt. Women have a pained existence under today's societal pressures: pressures to look good all the time. These pressures are everywhere - compounded by the media and marketing. "Bitter Embrace", to me, typifies a woman's love-hate relationship she has with her body. Although Anni, beautiful as she is, has nothing to fear, she is a woman and is aware of these pressures put upon by women and my interpretation of "Bitter Embrace" is she has tried to underpin and exemplify these pressures in her portrayal of how they make a woman feel. Love-hate - hence its title. A very clever and sensitive depiction of this concept.
The warm tones and bare skin evokes a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, the black nail polish draws the viewers eyes to her self-embrace - the self-protective body language and downcast eyes; showing submission and near resignation to the fact that she feels the pressure. The pose depicts a woman - vulnerable and exhausted from the constant societal expectations to live up to unrealistic body shapes and having to look like the perfect 'Eve' - embracing herself in reassurance; holding herself and protecting herself keeping the wolves at bay.
For vision, for the reasons stated above, I have given her 5 out of 5. This is a powerful, yet sensitive deptiction of this concept is first class. Kudos to you, Anni.
For originality, I have given 4. At face value, there are many many pictures of beautiful, beguiling naked women with their arms folded around themselves to mask their breasts.
For technique, I have awarded 5 out of 5. The composition, crop and colours are, imho, flawless I cannot fault them. Aside from the technicalities, her capture of emotion through body language alone shows immense talent in a photographer.
For impact, again I have awarded FULL MARKS. As I stated and/or hinted at in earlier paragraphs, I have been a fan of this young photographers self-portraiture for a long time. As a portrait photographer myself - and having an avid liking for self-portraiture for its ease of knowing the model - I find her work varied and inspiring. She is always evolving and creating beautiful (often thought-provoking) images. Images that are always emotionally charged, beautiful to look at and technically astute.
"Bitter Embrace" is one of my favourite images of Anni - aka
If you are not 'watching' Anni closely, perhaps it's time you did... and if you do, please, visit her gallery and re-familiarise yourself with her and her ingenue. She's amazing.
